Meet Emily Stafford-Key | Senior Account Manager

Emily is a Senior Account Manager at MyNewTerm, where she supports schools and trusts throughout their journey, from first introductions to long-term success.

With over a decade of experience as a secondary school English teacher, she brings a deep understanding of the education sector and a genuine commitment to improving recruitment for both staff and students.

Her favourite part of the role? Seeing once-nervous customers become confident users, amazed at how much time they’re saving. Whether she’s coaching the team, training a new MAT, or reviewing processes to improve the user experience, Emily is all about making things simpler, smarter, and more human.

What does a typical day in your role look like?
Meeting with members of the operations team to discuss our week’s goals and complete ongoing coaching and support. Training new schools and MATs or catching up with established customers about how things are going. Supporting candidates and employers with any queries. Reviewing our processes to make our customers’ experiences even better in future.

How did you get started in this industry?
I went into teaching straight from University and spent 12 years as a secondary school English teacher before deciding to make a change and try out a new challenge. Working for MyNewTerm allows me to use my prior knowledge of the education sector in a meaningful way whilst still supporting students and teachers.

What do you find most rewarding about your job?
I love it when customers who were nervous at the implementation stage come back after a month of using the system and can’t believe how easy the setup was and how much simpler and quicker their recruitment processes are from using MNT for a short space of time. I try not to say ‘I told you so…..’!

What’s your go-to productivity hack or tool?
Getting outside in the fresh air for a walk at lunchtime helps my brain to reset and keep focused throughout the day.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
I like the often-used phrase at MNT ‘Don’t let the highs get too high, or the lows too low’ It’s a good way to keep things in perspective on both challenging and rewarding days and reminds us that both are part of the journey.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I’m super tall, which you can’t tell on a video call! It’s very handy for colleagues who need things from high shelves.

If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be? (Internally)
One of the dev team – I’d love to look at all that code and know what on earth it meant!! And to tell people to ‘turn it off and on again’ 😉
