Meet Ikunyemi Ngor | Chief Technology Officer

As part of the MyNewTerm development team, Ikunyemi Ngor plays a key role in keeping projects on track — from daily stand-ups and code reviews to problem-solving and cross-team collaboration. With a sharp eye on both technical detail and strategic goals, they help steer the development process and support the wider team (even if that means getting “bugged by the developers” now and then).

Yemi’s journey into tech was sparked by a childhood curiosity about how video games worked, evolving into a love for coding and design. What drives him now is seeing ideas come to life and helping others succeed along the way.

What does a typical day in your role look like?
A typical day for me involves checking in with the team, planning and prioritising work, reviewing code or architecture, solving roadblocks, syncing with other departments, and making sure everything stays on track technically and strategically. Also, “Getting bugged by the developers”.

How did you get started in this industry?
I’ve always been fascinated by how video games work. As a kid, I was curious about how the graphics, cartridges, and consoles all came together to create such an entertaining experience. That curiosity sparked a deeper interest in computing, and by 16, I was already into graphic design and coding. That passion, “along with the fact that there is good money in it,” naturally led me into the tech industry.

What do you find most rewarding about your job?
It’s seeing ideas go from a rough concept to a real product that enables others to do their best work and truly benefit from it. I also enjoy mentoring others and helping the team grow. For me, there is something really satisfying about seeing others succeed and knowing you played a part in it.

What’s your go-to productivity hack or tool?
https://www.todoist.com – A streamlined task manager

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I’ve ever received was from my dad, and that’s to always have a “can-do” mindset. Approaching things with an attitude of “let’s figure it out” has helped me push through challenges, stay adaptable, and keep growing.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I still enjoy watching good old Bugs Bunny!

If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be?
I would swap with Damaris. I’ve always had a thing for graphic design, working on visuals and campaigns. Plus, her drawers always have some snacks.
