Meet Sharon Reid | Customer Support Advisor

 

Sharon is a Customer Support Advisor at MyNewTerm, quietly keeping things running behind the scenes. From handling finance tasks like service agreements, renewals, and invoices, to jumping in on live chats and email queries during busy periods, she plays a key role in supporting both schools and candidates with efficiency and care.

With a background in education and admin, and having first encountered MyNewTerm as a school PA, Sharon brings a unique perspective and deep appreciation for the product. She loves being part of a close-knit, positive team and finds real joy in hearing feedback from happy users.

What does a typical day in your role look like?
I describe my role as ‘behind the scenes’, doing all things finance, so I can send service agreements and invoices, handle finance enquiries, and manage the renewals. I also help with general customer queries from our schools and candidates via email and live chat during very busy times.

How did you get started in this industry?
My background is as a medical secretary, then PA to a Principal in a secondary school – this is when I had my first experience of MyNewTerm in its very early days. I took a break from work to travel for a while and then joined the MyNewTerm team when looking for a new part-time role. It was one of the best moves I ever made!

What do you find most rewarding about your job?
It’s definitely being part of such a fantastic team, knowing what a great product we have and what an efficient service we provide. It’s always lovely hearing the wonderful feedback we receive.

What’s your go-to productivity hack or tool?
I do love a process, although I might not enjoy writing them quite so much! Each morning I write a brief ‘to-do list’ with my main tasks, and try not to carry too many forward to the next day.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
To just be yourself. During a brief time delivering training calls, it was all too easy to try and do them in the same way as my colleagues – we are all very different, with our own personalities and styles, and this is what makes us such a great team.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
I can ride a motorbike, although I prefer to ride pillion so I can be the official photographer (on the move) and the ‘dedicated drinker’!! I’ve had a few extended motorbike adventures with my husband in the UK and overseas, and we look forward to many more.

If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be? (Internally)
By process of elimination, I would swap jobs with our marketing guru, Damaris. I think I’m quite a creative person, so it would be interesting to get involved in this side of the business.
