We spoke to Robert Timmis, Director of Operations at Three Spires Trust, about how MyNewTerm has helped recruit and increased applications during a national recruitment and retention crisis.

“Before MyNewTerm, we really struggled to recruit candidates in both teaching and support vacancies across the trust. The pool of candidates available to us has shrunk nationally. There is a national recruitment and retention crisis anyway, so there are fewer people out there to recruit. Essentially, candidates don’t have the time to fill in a big Word document. We traditionally used Word documents for recruitment forms. This was a bit of a barrier to people coming through the system to be recruited before we used MyNewTerm.”

Hopefully, we might have moved away from a Word document form but that probably still would have looked like an Office 365 form or something. That’s still quite laborious and doesn’t actually take you through the whole candidate management system MyNewTerm offers. I can’t emphasise enough how that streamlines the whole recruitment process for you to recruit more effectively. We still would have had individual tasks with individual people monitoring different stages of the process. Whereas now, it’s all on one system and streamlined for us.”

“We are able to see how many hits we get for each advert, how many people are drafting applications, and how many people actually apply. We can see that previously we were only getting a very small percentage of applicants. This was potentially because of that laborious application process. Now we can see exactly how many candidates we’ve got coming through and what our reach is for those.”
