We spoke to Melissa Boyes, Chief Operating Officer at The STAR Multi Academy Trust, about how much MyNewTerm has improved efficiency for school administrators.
“We are not a centralised trust, the recruitment processes remain at each of the schools but we share the same struggles as Multi Academy Trusts. Recruiting great talent, but also from the operational perspective, we really struggled with consistency and efficiency in our recruitment processes. That’s where MyNewTerm really has helped us with the frustrations we had with our recruitment processes.
They were manual, paper-based, took a long time and, if I look at it from the applicant’s point of view, there weren’t as many applicants applying because it was hard to access the paperwork or the forms. The time for the administrators to process that work also was in hours. In contrast, with MyNewTerm, they can turn around an application in minutes so the time-saving element has been fantastic.
The data that we now receive from applicants, from the time that the job goes out to advert, to the number of people who actually see the advert, to the people who apply, all the way straight through to the interview process and the recruitment has been really invaluable because, like some Multi Academy Trusts, we had very limited data availability and MyNewTerm has completely transformed that for us. We can actually see where people are applying to and really target our efforts to recruit on the most effective platforms. From our administrators as well, the processing time has significantly reduced so we have been able to really streamline processes and take work out of schools that actually didn’t add value to the education of children.”
“These may seem small, but when you put them together, it really has been transformational for our trust to move on to MyNewTerm.”
“I was involved in the decision-making to move the trust to MyNewTerm and if I’m really honest, it took us a really, really long time. We engaged with MyNewTerm I would have to say over three years ago when they were first starting out. At the time, the trust decided not to – the trust decided to try to build their own system using software and that just wasn’t effective in the long run.
Moving to MyNewTerm has increased our candidate base, meaning that we haven’t had to go out to recruitment adverts more than once time on many of our posts. That in itself is a financial saving because running a recruitment process is expensive. We hold a lot of different contracts but MyNewTerm is really different because they are genuine, they really care about getting the best value for your school, pricing is really competitive and they are very personable.”
“After years of frustration in manual processes, this has really helped transform our organisation to become a competitor in the industry.”
